"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. "- John 18:36
With this I do not want to start a political discussion but rather encourage those who might be going through a difficult period after having been heavily emotionally invested in the political arena and find that that faith was misplaced, or over stated.
The Kingdom of God is not an earthly kingdom, even if we are admonished to be subjected to it for the Lord's sake (see Romans 13). We are IN the world but we are not OF the world. John 15:19,1 John 2:15.
Man is not God, and man will always be a disappointment, no matter who that man is, which is why we must turn our eyes to the Word and seek the Lord for guidance in all things.
"These all died in faith,(the patriarchs) not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: where fore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city." - Heb 11:13-16
As a child of God you no longer belong to an earthly country but are promised a better, heavenly one, for which God is not ashamed.
"But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, where unto ye desire again to be in bondage? "- Gal 4:9
"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, "- 2Cor 6:17
So, if you have been disappointed by some person, politician or other, suck it up, you are in good company and you are not alone.
