The flame of a candle is very instructive. "The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly"- Pro 20:27
In order for a candle to burn bright it has to be free ... of obstruction. Just like our spirit/soul, it has to be set free in order to burn brightly. In the parable of the sower we are taught that only the seed that lands on good ground will grow and give fruit, while all others than are encumbered with "stuff" will not endure; the care or riches / mammon, the world ect will choke it out and it becomes unfruitful.
"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. "- 2Cor 3:17 Christ has set us free to let the light of our candle burn brightly (this little light of mine ...) so that it might illuminate the darkness, not with chains and restrictions, but with the power of love, His love.
Then there are those who either don't want or like the way your candle burns and will try to stifle your flame; these are gatekeepers / enemies that impede the Lord in you. Sometimes they are well meaning, and honestly believe that they are doing it "for your own good" not realizing that it is not in anyone's best interest to do so.
Many have been subjected to this when they received Jesus; no sooner were they "out of the box" so to speak that some well meaning loved one was there trying to corral that flame. "And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. "- Mt 10:36 And this says nothing yet of strangers, as we are seeing with the FE resurgence, who, in their inability to accept what God is now doing, lash out in defiance and vitriol. The defiance and vitriol is not aimed at you, not really, it is aimed at the flame IN you, and you just happen to be the visible target. Don't take it personally, it is not you they are hating, it is the flame, the light coming through you. "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."- Jn 1:5 So now you understand what is happening during an episode of severe cognitive dissonance.
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."- 2Cor 4:6 Let your light shine, no matter what anybody says
