Lesson (vol.33)
Patience of the Saints

In our daily walk with the Lord we encounter many different situations; some are pretty banal whereas others require us to exercise a great level of patience. As it is on the small daily scale so it is on the much larger scale of stepping back and viewing world events.

The Bible says, "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Rev 18:4) This is in reference to the great commercial whore described in the book of Revelation (17-18) of the Bible. And when we have truly "come out of her", some literally in the physical sense but others the still more importanly in the spiritual sense, we can then step back and observe world events in a dispationate fashion, only pausing long enough to match what we already know from the Bible's prophecies to be fact with what is going on around us in the world we live in.

It has been stated in other Newsletters that, as Christians, our duty is to God first and above all, and as such we are to pledge allegiance ( the fidelity owed by a subject or citizen to a sovereign or government - Webster's) to only one king and one kingdom, the Kingdom of God ! Once our loyalties are straight we are then in a better position to obseve world events for what they are, stepping stones to fulfilling Biblical prophecy. We have dedicated a section on this site to "The EndTime" in hopes of giving you, the reader, a "heads up" on what to look out for as indicators of how things are moving right along with it's ultimate conclusion being the return of Jesus Christ to take His lawful place upon the throne of His Kingdom.

In Luke 21:19 we are told, " In your patience possess ye your souls." It is easy to get caught up in the things and events that surround us, but it is in a good and firm understanding of God's Word that we "see" these events more clearly and as such our patience is tested as we see the day approaching when all these predictions will come to pass. There are many verses in the Bible that deal with the importance of being patient, and excersizing patience.

" For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. ." (Heb 10:36)

" Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us ."(Heb 12:1)

" But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience ."(Lk 8:15)

" For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope ."(Rom 15:4)

These are but a few. Even the apostle Paul found himself in a position that his patience was tested ... " But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses ." (2Cor 6:4) Go ahead and read the rest down to verse 10.

Dedication to the Lord and to Godliness requires us to go through many different experiences, some requiring a great deal of patience, not to mention faith. So, when evrything seems to be in chaos, remember that God's Word has something to say about what is going on. Like when Jesus said, " And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. ." (Mt 24:6 - see the EndTime study for more details) These things were forecasted thousands of years ago, likewise "He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. ."(Rev 13:10)

Those who have relied on the god of force will meet their match one day, it is a certainty, and in this lies the patience of the saints. We know these things are going to happen, and we try to warn others of the dangers, but it takes great patience to see others blindly carry on as if nothing is going on and will surely fall flat one day soon.

It is in your patience that you will overcome, because patience requires faith; faith to see what others do not see, faith to believe what others do not believe, faith to know that what God's prophets have said will come to pass. Faith to realise that the kingdoms of man are all going to hell and the patience to wait for the Kingdom of God in spite of all of the obstacles that are placed in the way.

Faith to carry on God's work of winning souls to the Kingdom, even when ridiculed and shunned as some sort of "fanatic" or "extremist" for doing so. When faced with opposition and threats to stop preaching the Gospel, what did Peter and John say ? " But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard ." (Acts 4:19-20)

Beloved, at this writing, we are entering into a whole new perspective of things on the world stage and it is paramount that we understand what is going on in order to be able to explain it to those around us who do not understand and need our guiding hand, so stand strong in your faith and be patient, it will all work out in the end. " And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose ." (Rom 8:28)

May God bless you with His Love, Peace and Truth.
