Lesson (vol.11)
Caring for God'sTemple

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"(1Cor 3:16)

"And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."(2Cor 6:16)

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."(2Cor 5:1)

"God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"(Acts 17:24)
"Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"(Acts 7:48)

The vast majority of worldly Christians have been led to believe that the only way to worship God is to go to a certain building and once there to perform a series of traditions which are by and large ceremonial in nature. So, through the motions we go, but is this worshipping? "to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion" is how Webster's Dictionary defines worship. Is that what is taking place in the numerous churches and temples ? Some have even declared it a "sin" to not attend the building at least once a year ! Do the vast majority "go to churh/temple" to regard with great respect, honor or devotion" their Creator ? Or is it just a concience-excusing exercise that they perform out of tradition or habit ?

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."(Jn 4:24)

Can you be worshiping God while sitting on the toilet ? Tell me why not. Can I be worshiping God at work or play ? What is stoping you from regarding Him with great respect, honor or devotion while dressed in your cover-alls and covered in mud or grease ? Let us leave off the whited sepulchers of outward appearance in favor of "loving God with all the heart, all the mind". As God Himself said when choosing David to lead Israel," for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."(1Sam 16:7)

Not only should we be caring for God's temple of our physical bodies in giving it proper nutrition, exercise and heart-healthy attitudes, but we need to be caring for the more eternal body of our spirit which will live on forever.
"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"(1Cor 6:19)

"Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men."(1Cor 7:23)

"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."(1Cor 6:20)

May God bless you with His Love, Peace and Truth.
